Scottish Tourist Association Refuses New Brochure
We have now been informed by Visit Scotland that they are refusing to rack and display any of the 20-000 Helensburgh Brochures in any of their tourist offices as one of the service providers advertised on the brochure is not a member of Visit Scotland and as a result has not been graded by them. I am gobsmacked and deeply disappointed in this action and really all the hard work and efforts of ordinary people in the last 8 months has been a waste of time. When you are not allowed to promote your own town what hope left is there? I really dont think we can help this country when it doesnt know how to help itself .I hope to god the next person up for the job is a better man than i as he will need to be ,good luck to the next contender melanie andrews.

Hill House declines Ann Stewarts Helensburgh DVD
Hi all,After speaking with Charlotte Rostek recently i have been informed that they are now NOT going to promote the Helensburgh Dvd in Hill House this year. I had said at the meeting at Craigard in october of last year that i was even prepared to buy the Dvd player and arrange to have it fitted in the house, and at that time the Marketing Director for the National Trust for Scotland Mr Robert Ferguson agreed verbally to me on the phone at the eleventh hour before the meeting that this would go ahead. How sad that we promote the Hill House in every bit of advertising literature that we have and i even offered to buy the equipment and charlotte has even had a copy of this beautifully illustrated Dvd herself and then go back on their word. It was not going to cost the National Trust a penny and me a member for the last twelve years as well. the New Helensburgh brochure also advertises heavily the Hill House and free of charge.I would hope that in the near future they may reconsider helping the town of helensburgh as all others are trying desperatly to do just now.We must all help each other if we are to attract people to the town .Hill House please reconsider .

Arts/ Heritage Centre meeting
Hi everyone long time since last posting but i have been very busy with the new arrival of the long awaited Helensburgh Brochure which is now out and in some helensburgh shops already.I am awaiting Visit Scotland to tell me whether they are intending to charge me for the stacking of the brochures in all of the local tourists offices .If they are then it will be the first time in the whole producing of this brochure that i have been charged for anything as all has been funded freely by people to get it of the ground. How sad that our own scottish TOURIST ASSOCIATION is the only one to charge. What does that tell you about promoting ourselves as a country?. Anyway i will pay for it myself should it come to that.Any one wishing copies of the new brochure can contact me at Craigard on 01436 677787.The highland games is running along smoothly and all on track for the 21st june.My main reason for for todays posting though is to talk about an exciting new project started by a local man by the name of Phil worms

Helensburgh Highland Games
Hi folks another successful meeting with the games committee tonight. Its all going very well despite Helensburgh rumours to the contrary! All 30 stalls have been booked up months ago and the site plan looks great. The evening ceilidh is worth getting a ticket for as the the place to be seen this year. The full programme of events and participants can be seen on the games website - helensburghandlomondgames.co.uk.The attractions for the day will be never before been seen in the town and the music and dancing will be awesome.I cant wait to be a part of it and be proud to have been a help in setting up the first games in over 35 years(could be longer )Banners will be up shortly so look out for them .Thats all for now folks .

Helensburgh Brochure
Hi Everyone the new helensburgh brochure is now nearly ready to print and we have named it the garden city of the clyde (as it was known in victorian days)There are over 256 businesses in the town (I know i have counted them all) and we had hoped to have all these businesses listed in a grid map telling you the name of the street its on and what the shop or b@b sells etc.The trouble is the helensburgh advertiser has for the last 6 weeks run a free entry form for each business to fill out and send back to the office at colquhoun square and so far onle 39 have been sent in and i believe nearly half of them are out of town which defeats the purpose in providing a local directory/tourism guide.Your radio has also advertised for the local shops to get there free entry in before friday now, as its been extended.I hope you all get cracking and send in your entry form now and be proud then to be in the only piece of advertising merchandise for this town which should be out in the shops and hotels and all the tourist offices across the country at the end of march.
